I am so excited to introduce the new Simple Day blog series: Vendor Spotlights! Having the opportunity to work with such an amazing variety of vendors is one of my favorite aspects of the wedding industry. Each photographer, caterer, and venue has his/her/its own unique traits and styles that bring so much to a wedding. Whenever I come across a vendor that I think has something really special to offer, I want to share it with as many couples as possible, and that’s exactly what this series will do.
The first spotlight is on The Boondocks, a gorgeous banquet hall on Main Street in Youngsville, North Carolina. Built in the early 1900s, the building was originally a horse stable. In 2013 it was restored and converted into a unique venue offering both rustic charm and historic elegance with exposed brick, iron chandeliers, and vaulted ceilings. The front wall features tinted arched windows, giving the space an open, airy feel, while still being cozy and intimate. That’s a tough balance to find for most venues, and it’s what makes The Boondocks a great choice for almost any size wedding.
The front door definitely speaks to the equestrian history of the space with all of its iron nail heads and hardware. As with almost every other wall at The Boondocks, it makes for a gorgeous backdrop. I love the architectural details like the door and ceiling beams here. The more visually interesting the space is on its own, the less fuss a couple will need to put into decorating it to get beautiful pictures. You only need to enhance, not cover up, and that’s so important when you want to keep things simple.
They have a slew of other amenities, like a parking lot, comfortable chairs, optional bridal suite, and a small kitchen for caterers. There is also a smaller room off the side of the larger room shown above, which is perfect for a cocktail hour and mingling. The space comes equipped with a bar, decorative wheeled cart, and…this couch! Can we talk about this couch for a minute? This is that couch you see at the flea market, and it just steals your heart completely, but you have to pass, because where on Earth are you going to put it? (C’mon, I know I’m not the only one.) Well, obviously, you put it in a beautiful historic downtown venue. It’s just so perfect. I’m told it’s been used as part of the photobooth set up for a few weddings–how fun is that!? And how gorgeous would any wedding dress look on it?
Overall, The Boondocks is a gorgeous blank canvas, well equipped to host almost any style or size of wedding. It’s always amazing when one space can offer so much versatility, which is why I highly recommend checking it out!
